About me

Andrew Heason of Heason Marine Yacht Surveyors

I consider myself very lucky to live in stunning Cornwall and even more fortunate to fuel my passion even more by being able to work close to the water, both on and around boats of all types, shapes and sizes.

At the age of 14 I took on my first wooden boat restoration project in the form of a 14’ clinker sailing dinghy and since that time I cannot remember a time that I was not involved in some form of yacht restoration. Either in timber or GRP.

I have sailed competitively and recreationally for over 40 years and love helping others gain experience and enjoyment on the water.

After leaving a role where I had come to specialise in forensic investigation I have chosen to combine this skill with my passion for helping others enjoy boat ownership and over 40 years of experience of being around boats of all types by becoming a yacht and small craft surveyor and here at Heason Marine Yacht Surveyors our mission is to help boat owners by proving a friendly, professional and comprehensive yacht and small boat surveying service, designed to provide you with exactly the right information you need for the specific objective in mind.

Be that pre-purchase, build or restoration project management right through to insurance claims and sea trials and everything in between. As a client you will find Heason Marine Yacht Surveyors to be thorough, professional, very responsive and enthusiastic. Perhaps most importantly though, I am able to back up my findings and conclusions with a pragmatic approach that is only gained after many years of experience as a boat owner, restorer, builder and yachtsman myself.

When I’m not working I can usually be found sailing the stunning South West coast with my wife and our black Labrador on Strider, our 34’ sailing cruiser……if you see us come and say hello, we’d love to say hello!

No matter what size your boat is, please get in touch with Heason Marine Yacht Surveyors if you would like a chat and I would love to help in any way I can.
